But $%# Cold

I live in Roseville, California and it is not suppose to get this cold here, but it has this weekend. The last few nights have been in the freezing mid 20ies. Way to cold for this CA girl is all I can say.

If you know it is going to freeze at night hang your hose from a tree or fence and leave it on a slow drip over night. You should wake up to a beautiful icicle in your yard. Now all you have to do is get bundled up in the A.M. to go outside and enjoy the site.

Cap'n Aiden

As Cap’n Aiden swings his sword he is celebrating his pirate themed big 4th Birthday. He is playing with friends and family at Pump It Up. A place filled with all kinds of fun to bounce and climb, on blow up slides, fighting arenas, and obstacle courses. Smiles were on all of the pirate partygoers as they bounced all around the room. Determination on the rock wall
All kids need is a goal and the can push them self to do almost anything. Taking photos today of some little guys working so hard to get to the top of a 30-foot rock wall made me proud for them. They just kept on pushing to the top. They would look around for the next hold then move on for some more. In this photo you can see Johnny’s determination, he was not going to let anything or anyone stop him. Take your little guys to some self-challenging activities and make sure you bring the camera and document their accomplishment.

Ladybug Toes

Tiny polished red toes will stop me for a quick shot any time any place. I’m not sure what it is about the sweetness of cute little feet but I just love them. No face needed to help you understand how much of a princess this little girl is. I wonder is it the red toes or the ladybug jewerly box that gives it away?

Cherry Rosemary Pork Tip

When I take the time to cook I love it. Tonight dinner was a fun one to make. I used a Pork Sirloin Tip Roast and made a great with it. This was a new thing for me to cook. My creative juices started flowing and this is what I came up with. It was very moist, we enjoyed it with fun company and I would make it again.

Cherry Rosemary Pork Tip

1 Pork Sirloin Tip Roast
1 cup of pitted cherries
3 tbls. fresh rosemary
2 garlic cloves
1/2 cup black raspberry vinegar
salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 375. In a blender puree` cherry, garlic, Rosemary, and vinegar. Take 3/4 of the cherry & rosemary sauce and smother over the pork in a baking dish. Set aside the other sauce to use later. Top pork off with salt and pepper. Bake in oven for approx. 1 hour 45 mins or until pork reads 160 degrees internally. During cooking re baste pork a few times with the extra sauce around the meat other sauce set aside. When temp has reached 160 pull out and let meat rest for 5-10 mins. Slice 1/8 inch thick starting at the small endof the tip. I arrange the slices of meat and drizzled with the reduced sauce served with basmati rice, zucchini and a green salad tossed with cherries.

My Great Grandma Mimi

Being a photographer comes to me naturally through my jeans. As a child I remember my mom taking so many photos of everything. It was somewhat a joke in our house. Little did I know that I would be following in her footsteps only professionally taking photos of people’s memories. Thanks Mom for the gift of photography.

My “Shot of the Day” is a photograph of pictures my mom took of our Great Grandma Mimi and the family who loved her so very much. We love and miss her so very much.

spin, roll…… spiral

As people we all have something that represents us whether it be a symbol, flower, number or something of that sort. When someone whom knows you sees it they will think of you.

Well this spiral happens to be my mom’s symbol. At her home again today I found this sculpture in her office. Being intrigued by the lighting of it. I worked it out to be my “Shot of the Day”.

This photo plays tricks on my eyes with the depth of the spin is it going inward, outward, or is it flat? What do you think?

A Bit Fruity

So excited about my winter cleaning, I had to go to the very clean fruit bin in the bottom of my fridge to get today’s photo. O.K. this “SOTD” is a bit fruity but, the lighting was so great and I am hungry I guess. So I think I’m going to grab one of those oranges.

African Children's Choir Again

These wonderful little kids were in town again. I couldn’t pass up their heart warming performance one last time before they hit the road for a few years. If you ever get the chance to see their show all I can say is do what you can to go. They will put a tear in your eye and a smile on your face to last a lifetime. A huff & a puff, blow those 4 candles away

Twin brothers Dillon and Domonic celebrate their 4th Birthday together with friends and family this afternoon. The party was held a gymnasitic gym with a cool pirate theme. These boys sure had the energy to keep everyone on their toes.

Silhouette Sunset

This changes everything I said yesterday about the rush for the sunset photo. On my peaceful evening walk the sun was setting once again and way worth a photo or two. As my husband waits while I snap a few pictures of the sky he unknowingly became the subject of my photo. I thought it looked cool having him just a silhouette with the awesome skyline. I also thought long about making my “SOTD” a sunset photo two days in a row. But, this photo was taken so differently then yesterday and a good shot.

So here is a tip, when taking photos think of all the ways you can use the same type of thing in a similar way.

The Sunset Race

A race of the clock again. These wonderful sunsets look so good after the job is done. Today like most sunset days I’m cruising around town I see a cool sunset forming and the BIG rush starts, will I beat the clock again? All I can say is you wouldn’t want to be a passenger in my car when I’m on a sunset mission. All looks peaceful but is it really? Well, when this shot is being taken it is. Fridge ABC magnets are so much fun as a kid and grown ups too, until the kids learn how to spell.

I was looking around the house for my “Shot of the Day” and the ABC’S and 123’s caught my eye. What words can you find in these jumbled up letters?

Whether you are 4 or 40 there is nothing like testing new make up. Is it a good color for me? For an afternoon event with little kids buy some kiddie make up. Let them go to town putting on their own new products while you just sit and watch or take pictures (like me). It is just to sweet, to see how much fun it is for them to feel so fancy. I loved this “SOTD” in black and white with just the color on the lipstick.
